MOVLUG is 5 years old!

This is the home of everything MOVLUG. From the meetings to the future of the group.

Just realized that we just passed our 5 year birthday. I actually noticed my "Member since" date was Jan 30th 2003 here on the forum. Hard to believe. :P

I promise meetings are coming soon. I just talked to Jim Walker about doing a security meeting real soon.

That would be awesome. Do you know anyone who would be interested in doing it? I know a lot of people who would attend that one.

I just started virtualizing some testbed servers using VMware. I've been playing with VirtualBox on my desktop and investigating it on the server side. It looks like my next infrastructure roll-out will involve 6-8 VMs mixed with dedicated machines, and I'm in the middle of "VMware Server ESX for the Enterprise"

I'm not qualified to teach it, but I'd stand in front of people and talk about it if it meant meetings were coming back. There are probably a lot of people around here who are better qualified though.

That's a start. When would be a good time for you? We could make a couple of months away if it will make it easier for you. Duncan Segrest or Jason Hall from Public Debt may be able to talk a little about some of the things that Solaris is doing with Zones and such. We could make it a multi-part meeting.

That sounds like a good idea. There are enough different ways to virtualize, between stuff like zones, xen, and virtualmachines, that different viewpoints might be a good idea.

I'm doing a major infrastructure move in May, so as long as it's not in the middle of May, I should be ok.

How about July? That gives plenty of time for me to try to get some sponsors and books.

Go for it. I don't know when I'll be moving to NJ, but we'll figure something out.

Somehow I think this forum has turned into my very own Twitter blog. Can't believe I see my name beside every topic. I guess I'll have to begin discussions with myself.
